About the Job

We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join our small, cross-functional team at florrent. A qualified candidate will have experience in process design, process optimization, and process troubleshooting in industrial manufacturing, preferably in processes utilizing rotary calciners and kilns. They will also have experience creating techno-economic analyses or working with contractors to create techno-economic analyses, as well as managing chemical supply chains. They will be responsible for leading and managing projects related to process improvements, new product development, and process validation.

As Senior Process Engineer at florrent, you will report directly to florrent’s Chief Engineer, and work to create prototype facilities for production of our next-generation active material for high energy density ultracapacitors. In moving from prototype to commercial production, you’ll work with stakeholders both inside and outside the company to optimize our process for scale and economic viability, always keeping a keen eye on environmental impact and material sourcing constraints to deliver an equitably derived product with the potential to reshape the ultracapacitor industry.


  • Lead and manage process engineering projects from concept to completion, specifically with rotary calciners and kilns for activated carbon production
  • Design and modify equipment at any process stage to optimize florrent process
  • Develop process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and process descriptions
  • Lead prototype- and pilot-scale data collection and analysis efforts
  • Conduct process simulations and process optimization studies
  • Work with IP counsel to moat florrent’s process optimizations and improvements
  • Develop and implement process control strategies and SOPs for a florrent QMS
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP and OSHA regulations
  • Provide technical support to production and quality control teams
  • Mentor and train junior process engineers
  • Create and validate techno-economic analyses
  • Manage sourcing and delivery of chemical supply chain

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in process engineering in a manufacturing environment, preferably with rotary calciners or kilns
  • Experience with process simulation software (e.g. Aspen, HYSYS)
  • Strong understanding of cGMP and OSHA regulations
  • Experience working within a QMS (e.g. an ISO-9001 environment)
  • Experience creating techno-economic analyses or working with contractors to create techno-economic analyses
  • Experience managing sourcing for chemical supply chains
