Our ultracapacitors are manufactured in Western Massachusetts from abundant and regenerative hemp biomass, grown domestically in the US by Black and Indigenous farmers.

About the Job

We are seeking an entry-level Process Engineer to help build and scale florrent’s activated carbon manufacturing. Working in this role, you will help build out florrent’s pilot manufacturing facility in South Deerfield, MA, assisting with the design and operation of equipment and processes for created activated carbon for application into next-generation ultracapacitor energy storage.

Responsibilities

florrent is looking for a Process Engineer to

  • Support process engineering work in the analysis, planning, and control of activated carbon production
  • Support engineering work related to the operation of pilot plant equipment and processes
  • Maintain and operate pilot production equipment
  • Under supervision, research the design of pilot plant equipment and processes for the production of activated carbon
  • Provide support for process improvement projects
  • Conduct tests to evaluate potential process changes
  • Support and uphold best practices in safety
  • Assist in writing standard operating procedures and training manuals
  • Provide engineering support to other departments as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science, or similar
  • Need to be self-starter, be self-directed, take initiative to move forward with ideas, be committed and be able to work with and influence others
  • Be comfortable with hands-on work, ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Prior experiences must demonstrate initiative, intellectual curiosity, strong problem-solving skills, success managing multiple priorities, and an affinity for working in a manufacturing operations environment
  • Prior experience may include internships, co-op assignments, summer jobs, and volunteer work, leadership roles in student or college-affiliated organizations, full-time or part-time positions
